Big T Pizza

Origin of the BIG T PIZZA

First a little about the person behind the Big T.

James Earl Travis Fryman was a cousin of Barbara Biddle and her son Rob. He was also a co-worker at MedCorp EMS in Nicholas County with Jim, Rob and Keli. He was our family and a friend to everyone he ever met.

The Big T pizza is his creation. Travis would come to the restaurant often, especially while on duty and try different combinations of toppings and ingredients. Some were okay and some were not. One day in his words he “hit the jackpot” and was excited to share what he came up with. It had ranch for sauce and topped with bacon, onions and tomatoes. This became his favorite thing to order. He would just come in and ask for “my pizza” and everyone would know what to fix. It soon became a favorite of others as well.

Unfortunately, we lost Travis on January 26th 2008. He was involved in a single-vehicle accident while undertaking the duty of "proper attendance of death." He had just visited the family of a fallen firefighter who had been killed earlier in the week. Travis was a Paramedic that served the communities of Carlisle, Vanceburg and Portsmouth.

It wasn’t long after that Travis’s creation was named the Big T.

The thought behind naming it the Big T was not to honor Travis with a pizza named after him or as a way to remember because the people that knew him will never forget him. The idea was that on occasion somebody would ask why it was called the Big T and we could share our story of our family, friend and co-worker Travis.
